It’s a birthday weekend here, so things are pretty focused in that direction - as they should be. However, one eye stays focused on what we continue to do. So far a very productive and satisfying weekend of work and recreation. We hardly turn the microphone off these days, it seems, and I can’t seem to get demos onto ipods quick enough.

The coming week should have us finishing up the vocal recording for the group of Halou tracks in front of us with new parts for ‘Beauty Is Suffering’ and ‘Breath Makes Smoke’. Also, ‘Sneaky Creatures’ (or, ‘The Song That Never Gets Finished’) may need to be revisited as I have some new tricks I’d like to try on the middle drum part. For all of the advances in plug-ins and what-have-you, sometimes the manual manipulation of things still yields the most interesting result - especially when you want to make something sounds sloppy and nice…
