Halou Gets A Second Life.
On August 22nd, 2006, Halou was the first large indie band to play a live concert in the ever-growing popular metaverse, Second Life (400,000 active users). Halou was asked to headline a 12 hour long live benefit concert for the American Cancer Society. The benefit was expected to railse $8000 USD, but ended up raising a thrilling $41,000 USD.
Additionally, Halou was also one of the first bands of their size to have their own listening station in Second Life, where residents can listen to 3 tracks off ‘Wholeness & Separation’, with “buy links” for anyone interested in purchasing Halou’s music from any number of digital retailers. Avatars can dance between the sheets of Halou album art in unique ways, and a video of Halou’s performance at SxSW is available for viewing.
