Here Comes The Rain.
Small things to complain about. Small things like little drops of rain. Had I any crops, I’d be pleased with what feels like the first real downpour of the year - at least in our neck. A couple weeks ago it hit us driving to Los Angeles and that was rough. This is almost pleasant just listening to it hit the roof and the window beside me. It constantly threatens to lull me into complacency.
So, back to music, right. Rebecca seems to be finding all the right words lately and we’ve been recording them. Headlong finally has her voice on it after 4 or 5 years and it’s definitely better for it. It seems like we must have 7 or 8 tracks fully recorded with vocals at this point. Last count put us somewhere around 14 total that we’re working on and none of them are instrumentals. A lot of ‘firsts’ this time around.
In spite of momentum in competing directions, I continue to write music for what will be who knows… The Halou album is taking such a different part of my brain this time that I seem to have a lot in reserve. Trying to empty everything out voluntarily so I have the beginnings of things laying around to resuscitate and turn into something when I need it. Sometimes the first note is the hardest.
