Travelogue - Day One

DAY ONE (2/29)
Finally got out the door and on the road at about 9pm Friday night. The miles that stretch out before us didn’t matter so much as we were leaving. It was just such a relief to be done with the planning stage and I was looking forward to the opportunity to catch up on all the missed sleep. I can’t wait for that bit.
Rebecca was nice enough to take the wheel first and she got us all the way to Reno while Count and I slept. My eyes opened a few times to note the patches of snow on the side of the road and transition of the landscape from the green of California to the sepia desert of Nevada. Stopped for the night under the casino lights. Reno always strikes me as kind of an urban ghost town with its best days behind it…
