Winter

‘You know, they used to call years ‘winters’?’ My son tells me this the other day. He thought it was strange - and yet, here we are illustrating just why that was so. Here in the usually temperate north of California it is damn cold. Winter is something to be survived and using its name to measure the passing of time is to take just a little credit for making it through one more.

I hate winter.
